Working with a professional model learn how to work in real-world settings to create compelling and natural portraits that tell a story. Â
What You'll Learn:Â
- Understanding Candid Photography: Learn the essence of candid photography and how it differs from traditional portraiture. We'll discuss the importance of spontaneity and how to anticipate and capture genuine moments. Â
- Environmental Context: Explore the significance of the environment in portrait photography. Understand how to use surroundings to add depth and context to your images, enhancing the story behind your subjects. Â
- Techniques for Blending In: Discover techniques to make your subjects feel at ease, allowing you to capture their true personality. We'll cover tips on how to be unobtrusive and capture moments without interrupting the natural flow of the environment. Â
- Lighting and Composition: Learn how to work with natural and available light to create beautiful, well-exposed images. We'll also delve into compositional techniques that enhance the candid nature of your portraits. Â
- Technical Skills: Gain practical knowledge on camera settings, lens choices, and other technical aspects crucial for candid environmental portrait photography. Understand how to quickly adapt to changing conditions and settings. Â
By the end of this class, you'll be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to capture candid environmental portraits that resonate with authenticity and emotion.
Enrollments are Limited - 10 places only
NOTE: Photographers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
What to Bring
We will be bringing a range of scene setting options for you to explore so all you need to bring is:Â
- A camera capable of manual and semi -manual modes (Aperture priority/shutter priority)Â
- A general portrait lens e.g. between 50mm and 135mm (or standard zoom)Â
- A rough idea of the images you want to create
- Lots of energyÂ
- An open and inquisitive mind
Cancellation/Refund Policy
- If you need to cancel 5 days notice is required for a refund.
- Should you need to cancel with less than 5 days notice we are happy to transfer your registration to a future event, however no refund will be available for that event.
- If we need to cancel or postpone an event we will give you as much notice as possible.
- If we cancel an event all fees will be refunded in full
- If we postpone an event (for example due to weather or illness) and you can't make the revised date/time and need to cancel the 5 day notice provisions above apply
