About Me

I’m Craig Rhodes and I first picked up a camera late last century (1997 to be precise), starting in film, and even went to Art School for a year, before trying and failing badly to break into the photography profession… after which I didn’t pick up a camera for over a decade - sad I know.

Then 7 or 8 years ago I dabbled again briefly as a Canon fanboy, but while Canon’s are great cameras they simply didn’t spark creativity.

That all changed as we came out of Covid lockdowns - with a need to be creative, and get the f#@& out of the house, and along with it new gear that lit the creative spark.

These days I’m out shooting almost every weekend, or in the studio, trying new things, creating new work and slowly exercising the creative muscles as I get back into the craft.

And that’s where Photography 4 Fun comes in - displaying my work, promoting the projects I’m working on and, through a variety of events, building a community of like minded people who live to get out there and record the world we live in.

The Mandatory Gear Stuff - not that it matters…

My photo journey started in film with a Minolta X300, before moving over time through a Canon A1, F1 and a couple of EOS5s, as well as Mamiya C330 and Bronica ETRSi medium format cameras.

The digital photographic journey started with a Canon 7d and then an 80D but, while they’re still great tools, for me they simply didn’t spark creativity, and I barely touched them.

That all changed as we came out of Covid, where between the end of lockdowns and still working from home, I simply needed to get the f#@& out of the house. So I traded the Canon 80D and a small mountain of cash for a Fujifilm XT4 and a couple of lenses - and I’ve been out shooting almost every weekend ever since.

Alongside this, there’s a bunch of other photo stuff - from tripods, camera bags and cases, to studio lighting and more.
